Apple Macadamia-Walnut Loaf

1 1/2 cups enriched flour, sifted
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
1/8 tsp. allspice
1 1/2 cups crushed wheat cereal flakes
1/2 cup walnut, chopped.
1 cup macadamia nuts
3/4 cup chopped apple
1 egg, slightly beaten
3/4 cup brown sugar, firmly packed.
1 1/2 cups butter milk
2 tbs. melted shortening

  1. In a large bowl, mix together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg and allspice.
  2. Add wheat cereal flakes, walnut, macadamia nuts and apple.
  3. In a small bowl, combine egg, brown sugar, butter milk and shortening. Fold into dry ingredients, so batter is moist. Do not beat.
  4. Pour into greased loaf pan. Bake at 350 degrees for one hour.
